Welcome to Vibescape ("we", "our", "the app"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information when you use the Vibescape video platform. By registering or using Vibescape you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
📱 Information We Collect
- Phone number — your MTN Nigeria number, used as your unique account identifier.
- Watch history — which videos you have watched and when, used to award points and personalise your feed.
- Points & coins — your earned points and coin balance, stored locally in your browser.
- Comments — any comments you post on videos, stored locally and visible to other users on the same device/origin.
- Device & browser data — standard technical information (browser type, screen size) used solely to render the app correctly. We do not collect IP addresses or location data.
🔑 How We Use Your Data
- To identify your account and restore your coins/points when you log in.
- To display the leaderboard using masked phone numbers (e.g. 0803***4567).
- To award +10 points per completed video and deduct coins when you unlock content.
- To display your comments on video pages.
- To improve content recommendations based on watch history.
💾 Data Storage
In demo mode, all data (your profile, watch history, comments, coins) is stored in your browser's localStorage on your device. It is not transmitted to any external server. In production mode (with the PHP backend), data is stored in a MySQL database on the host server. We do not sell, rent or share your data with any third parties. Coin purchase records are stored for billing reconciliation only.
🔒 Data Security
We apply industry-standard measures to protect your data, including parameterised SQL queries to prevent injection attacks, masked phone numbers on all public-facing displays, and HTTPS encryption on production servers.
✅ Your full phone number is never shown publicly. The leaderboard and comments only show a masked version (e.g. 0803***4567).
👶 Children's Privacy
Vibescape is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
⚖️ Your Rights
- Access — you can view all your data via your profile screen.
- Deletion — clearing your browser's localStorage removes all locally stored data. Contact admin to remove server-side records.
- Correction — contact the admin to update any incorrect account data.
- Portability — your data is stored in standard JSON format in localStorage and can be exported.
